Eliko Ozeki M.A.

Eliko has been in education for over 29 years as a classroom teacher and tutor for grades Pre-K through 6. She most recently served as the Lead Kindergarten Teacher at The Center for Early Education for 10 years. Eliko has taught in public and independent schools in Tokyo, New York City, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles. With her experience in Dual Language programs (Spanish/English, French/English, Japanese/English), she has enjoyed working with families and students from diverse backgrounds.
Specializing in developing students' foundational skills in number sense, mathematical thinking, and literacy, Eliko cultivates student independence and self-efficacy. Through her innovative and practical approach to teaching math concepts, she helps her students build confidence and problem-solving skills. Eliko uses the Science of Reading approach in her integrated reading and writing lessons where decoding and encoding skills are simultaneously practiced.
Mindfulness and sustainability activities are pathways for Eliko to teach social and emotional learning skills for students to build awareness, attention skills, and kindness toward themselves and others.
Anchored in the latest research, Eliko continues to design, pilot, and implement curricula in math, phonics, reading, writing, and social-emotional learning to benefit her students' learning and success.

Her expertise in SEL and early childhood development has led her to collaborate with UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center and Yale School of Medicine Child Study Center to develop courses and conduct research for teachers and students. She is a Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness Instructor, a Unified Mindfulness Level 2 Coach, and a Cultivating Emotional Balance Teacher.

Eliko lives in Los Angeles with her son, enjoys swimming, making ceramics, and building her IMPROV skills.
